DISTINCTIVE JEWELRY. A PERSONAL STATEMENT.

The material guide

Beautiful.
Clearly understood.

The stone, the base metal and the finish are three different parts of your piece. Know each one before you choose.

01

Natural diamonds

Diamonds formed naturally in the earth. Ask J about the stone’s weight, quality details and any available grading documentation.

02

Lab-grown diamonds

Diamonds grown in a laboratory. They share essentially the same chemical composition and crystal structure as natural diamonds, with a different origin.

03

Moissanite

A separate gemstone made of silicon carbide. It can resemble diamond, but it is neither natural diamond nor lab-grown diamond.

The metal underneath matters.

Solid gold

The piece is made of a gold alloy throughout. The karat tells you the proportion of gold: 14K and 18K are different alloys. Always confirm the karat and color.

.925 sterling silver

Sterling silver contains 92.5% silver. It may be uncoated or finished with another metal. A gold color over silver does not make the piece solid gold.

Plated and coated finishes

A surface layer over the base metal. Ask what the coating is, how thick it is, how to care for it and whether refinishing is available. “Rose,” “white” and “yellow” alone describe color, not metal content.

What to ask before buying

Confirm stone identity, total carat weight, dimensions, actual jewelry weight, base metal, karat, finish, included items and any grading report. Do not assume a certificate is included unless the specific product confirms it.
